North Carolina Project Spotlight
Commercial Steel Building Aerial Tour
This Spotlight features a barn style retail metal building for the folks at Big Red’s Bed & Biscuit doggy daycare and boarding facility. A 29′ x 76′ gambrel frame main building is flanked by two 16′ fully enclosed leantos.
The striking red color is accented by white wainscoting and white trim. Decorative barn style doors and custom exterior lighting add to the visual appeal of this project.
The History of Asheville
Originally called Morristown, it was later renamed after the Samuel Ashe (governor of North Carolina in the late 1790’s) and made the seat of Buncombe County. The Asheville area was originally a part of the Cherokee Nation.
European Americans only began to settle the area after the Revolutionary War, starting with Colonel Samuel Davidson and his family. The first railroad reached Asheville in late 1880, which resulted in steady growth for the area.
Industrial factories were constructed to process area cotton and wood, which in turn brought an increase in population and need for residential housing.
Asheville was the first city in the State of North Carolina to have electric street cars, which ran for nearly a half century before being replaced by buses. By the early 21st century, Asheville was attracting nearly a quarter-million visitors annually.
Today, Asheville is a community of near 100,000 residents and is a destination for those looking to enjoy its vibrant music, performing and visual arts, art deco architecture, climate and scenery.
