North Carolina Project Spotlight
Commercial Steel Building Aerial Tour
This Spotlight features a barn style retail metal building for the folks at Big Red’s Bed & Biscuit doggy daycare and boarding facility. A 29′ x 76′ gambrel frame main building is flanked by two 16′ fully enclosed leantos.
The striking red color is accented by white wainscoting and white trim. Decorative barn style doors and custom exterior lighting add to the visual appeal of this project.
The History of Charlotte
Originally inhabited by the Catawba Native Americans, the area known as Charlotte today was settled in the mid 18th century by European Americans with roots in Scotland and Ireland.
The city name itself pays homage to “Charlotte” of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Charlotte was a German princess who had become the Queen Consort of Great Britain and Ireland in 1761, earning it the nickname “Queen City”. In 1799, the discovery that a large rock used as a door stop by a local family was in fact a 17lb piece of near-solid gold, set off the first gold-rush in the newly formed United States.
There was gold found in the area for many decades, prompting the creation of the Charlotte Mint and making North Carolina the primary producer of gold in the U.S. until the gold rush in Nevada and California.
Today, Charlotte is the second largest banking center outside of New York. Outside of banking, Charlotte hosts an impressive list of corporations including: Bank of America, Honewell, Coca-Cola, Lowe’s, Brighthouse Financial and Duke Energy.
With a population of near 1 million residents, Charlotte provides no shortage of fans to support the local Carolina Panthers (NFL) and Charlotte Hornets (NBA).
