North Carolina Project Spotlight
Commercial Steel Building Aerial Tour
This Spotlight features a barn style retail metal building for the folks at Big Red’s Bed & Biscuit doggy daycare and boarding facility. A 29′ x 76′ gambrel frame main building is flanked by two 16′ fully enclosed leantos.
The striking red color is accented by white wainscoting and white trim. Decorative barn style doors and custom exterior lighting add to the visual appeal of this project.
The History of Fayetteville
Indiginous peoples have lived in the area of Fayetteville for thousands of years. Combining the towns of Cross Creek and Campbellton, Fayetteville was incorporated in 1783 and named after a French military hero named Lafayette, who helped the Americans during the Revolutionary War.
This was the first such honor for the Frenchman who visited the city named after him, some four decades later during a tour of the U.S. While Fayetteville was proud to have been the site of the North Carolina convention that ratified the U.S. Constitution, it was less so when it lost out to rival city Raleigh to become the State Capital.
In 1831, the “Great Fire” ravaged the town, burning scores of homes, businesses, and public buildings. At the time, it was thought to be the worst fire any city in the young nation had ever experienced.
Fayetteville has deep military ties, as both Fort Bragg and Pope Air Field are both located in it and contribute significantly to the local economy. The area grew significantly during the post-WWII era, especially during the decade of the 1960’s when nearly a quarter million soldiers trained at Fort Bragg prior to heading to Vietnam.
