North Carolina Project Spotlight
Commercial Steel Building Aerial Tour
This Spotlight features a barn style retail metal building for the folks at Big Red’s Bed & Biscuit doggy daycare and boarding facility. A 29′ x 76′ gambrel frame main building is flanked by two 16′ fully enclosed leantos.
The striking red color is accented by white wainscoting and white trim. Decorative barn style doors and custom exterior lighting add to the visual appeal of this project.
The History of Franklin
Located within the Nantahala National Forest, Franklin is a small town of less than 5,000 and the county seat of Macon County. Named after North Carolina Senator Jesse Franklin, Franklin developed around a “platform mound” dating back nearly a millennia which is still visible today in downtown Franklin.
Franklin is a popular destination for hikers (Appalachian trail) and those looking to enjoy the beauty of any of the four nearby waterfalls.
The area is so rich in minerals and gems that is know as the “Gem Capital of the World”, hosts an annual gem and jewelry show, and is home to the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum. The local mines continue to operate and produce rubies, sapphires, and garnets.
A short drive from Asheville, Atlanta, Knoxville, or Greenville, combined with it’s natural beauty and low cost of living, it attracts a large number of retirees and those in the populated nearby cities looking for second homes.
