Metal Building Ventilation Options
Please note that Buck Steel does not sell metal building components separately. The ventilation options listed below are only available to our metal building customers.

Ridge Vent
Metal building ridge vents are aerodynamically designed to keep weather out. Durable 26 gauge exterior combined with internal components of 24, 20 and 18 gauge sheet metal and machine parts for long service life. Fully protected from birds and rodents by a 4×4 galvanized mesh. An easy moving damper opens to any degree from fully open to completely closed. Available in 9′ or 10′ length in either white or Galvalume®.
Louver
Metal building louvers are self flashing and self framing (no other trim is required) and can come in single or double sections. Louver blades are roll-formed and can either be fixed or adjustable and include an insect screen. Louvers are steam-cleaned and treated before painting with standard polyester paint electrostatically applied to 2 mil thick and then oven baked – Galvalume® finish also available.
Circular Vent
Metal building circular vents are gravity ventilators with a 20” diameter throat size, 26 gauge inner and outer bands, and rain shield. The design achieves a free unobstructed flow of ventilated air and the addition of a vertical-lift damper completes the weather tightness of the unit. The damper is supported in the open position by a 5’ long pull chain. A 4×4 bird screen in the opening between the inner band and the rain shield resists the entry of birds into the vent.
Roof Jack
Metal building roof jacks are designed specifically for metal building applications provide the best way to seal penetration of pipes through the steel roof panel. The base is fabricated from corrosion resistant aluminum and commercial-grade rubber that has a continuous service temperature range of -65°F to +250°F (EPDM) and -40° to +350° (Silicone) and comes in standard sizes of: ¼”-2”, 4”-7”, 6”-11” and 7”-13”
Exhaust Fan
Metal building exhaust fans are becoming more common in metal buildings because they can easily move large amounts of air, don’t require any penetration of the roof, are easily installed, and easily obtained locally from WW Grainger®, Tractor Supply®, or similar. Exhaust fans are similar to metal building louvers, but have a powered fan behind the louver. Exhaust fans come in a wide variety of sizes and smaller exhaust fans require only a simple framed opening in the metal building.
Flood Vent
Flood vents are used in many types of construction and are sometimes required by local codes for coastal projects or those in flood-prone and/or low-lying areas. Constructed of marine-grade stainless steel and insulated, they are designed to weather the elements and be unaffected by the water they are designed to let pass through them. The vent door is latched closed until it flood water lifts the internal floats and allows the door to open. Visit smartvent.com for more information.
