Florida Project Spotlight
Retail Metal Building on Islamorada
This Spotlight features a retail metal building in The Florida Keys for the folks at Ocean Gardens. The project featured custom shaped windows on the gable ends to allow for as much light as possible inside the store and custom below eave canopies on the street facing sides.
Comfort and cooling costs dictated the use of high-r banding insulation in the roof which was left exposed for effect. Exposed HVAC ducting and custom nautical themed lighting add to the appeal of the interior. Custom finishes and quality interior buildout helped to make this project a stunning success.

Commercial Steel Building Erecting
This Spotlight features a time-lapse video of the erecting of the Coppertail Brewery in Tampa. The 67′ x 179′ building with an eave height of 31′ easily provided space for brewing equipment, while meeting the wind load requirements of the Florida Building Code.
Partial walls for masonry and a trolley beam for a 4 ton crane add to the complexity of this project. High-r banding insulation help to minimize building cooling costs while providing a comfortable environment. Be sure to check out the building when you visit the Coppertail Brewery and enjoy some of the mastery of their craft!
The History of Miami
Noted as the only major city in the US founded by a women, the land which comprises Miami was owned by a wealthy citrus grower named Julia Tuttle. Originally known by the name “Biscayne Bay Country”, Miami would not be officially incorporated as a city until 1896.
During the early 20th century, Miami saw significant growth in population and development as northerners moved into the city. The land boom of the early 1920’s, hurricane of 1926, and the Great Depression slowed Miami’s growth down to a trickle.
The Cuba revolution in 1959 saw many wealthy Cubans flee to Miami and the population once again boomed. Pro-sports came to Miami with the Dolphins in 1966, and Miami was in the spotlight in 1972 when the area hosted both the Democrat and Republican National Conventions.
Today, Miami has a growing population of nearly half a million people and has achieved international status. It has become a major center for finance and has one of the largest concentrations of international banks in the US. The greater Miami area is the second most visited US city behind New York City.
